Some very good Mosquito kits can suffer from either poor stencil decals, or a lack of the majority of what did actually adorn the ‘Wooden Wonder’. If you, like me, actually want to put all manner of the correct and full complement of these decals over your latest masterpiece, then you should consider taking a look at these sets from BarracudaCals.
Not only do you get exterior stencils within these sets, but you also get a number of cockpit decals too, including instrument panel dials, set on a transparent background so you may apply them over your painted panel; radio panel gauge and stencils, plus others to adorn the interior of the access hatch, and several for the interior sidewalls too.
Exterior decals are, let’s say, numerous! These comprehensive sets come complete with a rather neat line drawing set for decal placement, which are clear and very easy to follow, with the inclusion of a photo to show decal placement for the nacelles on 2-stage Merlin powered Mossies.
Decals, on both sets, are beautifully printed, and are so very thin that you know these will look very, very good on a finished model. Colours are crisp and authentic, and the text on even the 1/72 looks like text and is readable to a point too! Printing is in perfect register and about as good as it gets.
There really isn’t much more I can say here, as the sets are self-explanatory, and the quality is top.
So what do we think?
Open your Mosquito kit and look at the decals. You know you can do better. You know this bird deserves some proper, well researched and beautifully produced decals. Head over to Barracuda Studios and pick up a set of these for her. It is almost Christmas you know! Very highly recommended.
